Description
This introductory course covers fundamental vocabulary and communication objectives, including:
- Greetings, farewells, and introductions
- The alphabet, numbers, time, and days of the week
- Basic classroom objects and directions
- Cultural context on greetings in Spanish-speaking countries
- Personal interests:
- Common activities and pastimes, such as watching movies or going shopping.
- Infinitives and the verb gustar to express likes and dislikes.
- Descriptions of dances and music from Spanish-speaking cultures.
- Describing people and school life.
- Words for describing oneself and others.
- Definite and indefinite articles, and adjective agreement.
- Daily school schedule and classrooms.
- Class subjects, school supplies, and classroom furniture.
- Subject pronouns and the present tense of -ar verbs.
- Food and drinks for breakfast, lunch, dinner and general meal-related terms.
- Healthy eating, describing preferences, and expressing what you want.
- Verbs that use the construction
me gusta, such asimportar(to matter) andinteresar(to interest). - Verb conjugations and other grammar concepts.
- The irregular verb
preferir(to prefer), which is a stem-changing verb. - Culture from a biblical lens: Focuses on cultural aspects of evening meals and different dining customs in the Spanish-speaking world.
- The Mayan numbering system and other Latin influences on Spanish.
